That's the sound I was making yesterday, all day. You guessed it, I have allergies to the ying yang. The louder I sneezed, the better I felt - for 2 seconds, at least. And, then the kabooming would start all over. I had been avoiding taking allergy meds for personal reasons, but yesterday, it just got to be too much. So, now, I'm loaded with meds, and I just came back from a run. I think it's too early to tell whether the pollen has gotten into my system, but, oh, what a nice day today is - in the low 60's, though the wind was kicking up a bit.
I took Petra's advice - trying a different route today, and did just over 4 miles - thanks for the idea Petra! It was a nice invigorating run! I also am taking ShirleyPerly's advice and not walking around in my nice running shoes - she says it's a big no no! I ahd just gotten lazy and kind of forgotten about this rule.
And, now for the not so nice news. I have decided to not run my 1/2 marathon race this upcoming week. Oh, I have a ton of excuses, but the real excuse is that I've not felt like training. My training has been on and off - mostly off. I just haven't had the inclination most days. I was hoping that if I committed to doing it, I would do it. But, that didn't seem to work this time around. Perhaps I just have too much other things occupying my mind these days.
Anyways, I'm hoping that when the time is right, I will find a race that I will be more interested in doing. Still looking for that mojo...

I am glad changing the scene worked. I know it sounds stupid but when my mojo fails me I try to ring the changes everywhere - listen to different music, wear different clothes, run at a different time.. At the moment I'm finding that running in the evening is really working for me whereas I have, in the past, always been a morning runner. Ring the changes and before you know it your mojo will be back. OH - and don't give yourself a hard time. Doesn't help - at all - and you're doing great even when you don't think you are..
Man, I'd love to have some low 60 deg weather (or 70 or 80 :-). It's frickin freezing here in Central FL!
Glad to hear you finally got some allergy relief. I'm not a fan of going to see docs or taking meds but there comes a point when there is no use in suffering, esp. if it's really beginning to affect your lifestyle and training. Hope you can find something else to motivate you. For me, setting the bar too low can lead to lack of motivation. Maybe you should sign up for a half iron tri? There are a couple good ones in your area Longhorn and Buffulo Springs 70.3 that I keep hearing about.
One other thing, I think you should go to the race anyway and either volunteer or be a spectator. Being part of the race and reconnecting with the running scene may help motivate you. Minimally, you'll get a great feeling from helping others. You can even write a race report from the perspective of being a spectator/volunteer!
oh i like shirley's advice: go volunteer! no shame in not running what you're not mentally or physically prepared for. The whole idea is to have fun and if that's not happening, what's the point? It WILL happen again soon, though, I promise! What motivates me is the thought that I have this little blog on running...and it needs fodder!
yeah.. definitely volunteer. Nice 4 miler there.. let us know when you pick a race!
Yeah, changes are good. I am close to the point that I need to change the treadmill, so praying for the weather to warm up....
And I love Shirley's advice of going to the race to help as a volunteer. It probably would bring your mojo back faster than what we can imagine.
I am going to write that advice so I have it handy whenever is needed.....
Whither Jade? Hope we hear from you again soon. Hope your training is going well.
