I must confess, it's been 3 months since my last post. Lots of stuff going on. Guilt... Guilt... Guilt...as I've not been running much at all, though I bought 3 new pair of running shoes this winter! So, what gives? You know...life's trepidations...I couldn't even bear to read your posts, and it only made me feel guiltier, so I stopped reading and stopped blogging...until now.
I've been going through some personal challenges that made it difficult to really focus. I felt like I was kind of stuck in this black hole, and was having trouble digging myself out. I finally sought some help and am thankful I did. Little by little, my life has gotten back on track...except exercising!
So, why is it so hard to get back into it? I was tired of the routine. I lacked interest and motivation. I also had a lot of anxiety and concern about child care during the summer, as my daughter would be out of school for 3 months. My gym had this rinky dink childcare room. Last time I went there, there was a sign posted saying childcare was not happening that day due to some highly contagious illness one child came in with. The gym no longer was a fun place either. Though its location is great (1 mile from home), the place no longer felt like the place I had joined 4 years ago.
So, I was thinking of joining this country club which is in the neighboring community. We visited to check out their summer camps initially, but started considering getting a social membership. Me, country club? Haha...I'm not the type, but, they had a nice pool and some other niceties that I liked and it was CLOSE. Still, I was put off by their high initiation fee, and the fact that their workout facility was quite small, as was their aerobics room.
Today, my family and I took a peek at this facility about 6 miles away. It's a place I had heard several parents in my neighborhood talk about, but I never thought I'd be interested in joining because of the high monthly dues. After taking the tour though, I realized why parents sign up. It's a fantastic place for families. Their child care facility is very large, and the place is very family friendly. The facility is HUGE. Lots of space, and..I loved the locker rooms - and the fact that they have towels available - it felt spa-like - and very CLEAN smelling (that was my daughter's remark, not mine).
I was so surprised that my husband was even interested. Needless to say, we left with memberships in hand! Open 24 hours a day, LifeTime Fitness is what I think I need to kickstart my exercise program again!
I'm excited and wanted to share my excitement with you! Tomorrow, I go for my first workout with my entire family. I'll come stop by everyone's blog this week sometime!

Welcome back indeed! And the new gym sounds great. A good change for the new year.
Welcome back - it's wonderful to read your update and to hear you've come through all the various issues. We all cope with this stuff and you shouldn't add blogging - or reading blogs - to your list of things to feel guilty about. I'm thrilled you've found a good solution that works for you all. Good luck with it all.
CONGRATS, J!!!! Welcome back! And I commend you for dealing with the personal stuff. Good job!
Already, at six weeks old, I have child care anxiety about Isaac - at least in terms of workouts. Eek!
What can I say? What you perceived as lacking in updates, you sure made up for it. I think that all of us face what you went through (and are going through). Sometimes it just takes time and sometimes a complete review!
So good to see an article in your blog. I don't update mine as much as I should either!
Great to read your blog again!
Glad you're back to blogging! Sorry to hear the old gym you were at is no longer the same. I hope the new one allows members to bring occasional guests :-)
Oh, and I've been exercising enough for both of us so no need to feel guilty :-)
Sounds like a great gym. You get what you pay for. And we all need help at some point, so welcome to the club!
